Most technologically advanced pitch in South America to be installed at River Plate

Irish-owned global pitch specialists, SIS Pitches, has commenced the full reconstruction of the stadium pitch at Club Atlético River Plate, the Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The existing pitch will be replaced by a state-of-the-art SIS Grass hybrid grass system, supported with undersoil SIS Air aeration system which will create a stronger playing surface, by increasing aeration and moderating temperature in the root zone.

The team led by Carlos Reis, Director at SIS Pitches, will rebuild the pitch from October to December with the installation of SIS Grass scheduled to happen in January, fully completed in time for the new football season 2021.

Trusted by some of the biggest names in sport, including FC Barcelona, Green Bay Packers, Chelsea FC and BMO Field, SIS Grass will provide an elite playing surface that is over 95% natural grass, mixed with high performance polyethylene fibres.

As well as SIS Grass, the pitch will contain SIS Air which has been used successfully in many stadiums around the world including at Luzhniki stadium in Moscow for the World Cup Final in 2018. SIS Air includes heating and cooling systems, which will prevent seasonal deterioration of the playing field and meet the demanding climate conditions in Argentina.

SIS Pitches have worked with our registered distributor, Forbex, who are providing valuable local knowledge and enabling SIS Pitches to complete the project.
