Stamford School unveil new sports facilities built by SIS Pitches

Stamford School is known for their commitment to providing exceptional facilities that support students in maximising their potential across various sports. Having worked with Stamford previously, SIS Pitches eagerly took on a significant role in the transformation of their sports surfaces.

THE BRIEF

SIS Pitches were commissioned to play a significant role in transforming Stamford’s outdoor sports facilities. The scope of work included:

• Installing two new hockey pitches outside the newly constructed sports centre.
• Upgrading the hockey pitches to include tennis court markings, rebound mesh fencing, and LED floodlights.
• Refurbishing the existing cricket wicket facility with a specialised synthetic surface tailored to the specific needs of cricket.

WHAT WE DID

Initial works

• Conducted enabling works, including earthworks and site clearance.
• Demolished the existing pavilion to make way for the new sports centre.
• Removed specified trees, roots, kerb edgings, fencing, and floodlights.
• Stripped the existing synthetic carpet to prepare the ground for the new shockpad installation.

• Constructed two 101.4 x 61-meter hockey pitches.
• Installed a 15 mm rubber shockpad layer.
• Laid the SIS Grass Synthetic Xcel synthetic carpet, completed with green and reflex blue surfaces and a sand dressing.
• Marked one of the pitches for tennis courts, enabling up to 48 individuals to play simultaneously.
• Installed fences, rebound mesh, new nets, dugouts, and 12 x 15m LED floodlights.

• Excavated the existing dynamic layer and leveled the foundation with 50 mm of Ollisett stone.
• Installed a tailored SIS Grass Synthetic Cricket Pro carpet with high-quality polyethylene monofilament fibre for durability and optimal player and ball performance.
• Enhanced the carpet with SISBond PU coating for added resilience.
• Completed the facility with new steelworks and a state-of-the-art netting system.

• Hockey Pitches: The two hockey pitches now serve as versatile playing areas, with the addition of tennis court markings and advanced floodlighting enhancing usability.
• Cricket Facility: The refurbished cricket practice facility, featuring six futuristic practice zones, is one of the best in the country. It combines premium quality materials and cutting-edge construction, allowing students to train at an elite level.
• The new facilities at Stamford School have transformed the school’s sports infrastructure, offering students access to high-quality playing surfaces and state-of-the-art amenities that support their athletic development.
