Redditch United switch from natural pitch to new 3G synthetic pitch

new synthetic turf PART OF £900k REDEVELOPMENT

Redditch United Football Club, a historic club with over 125 years of history, is committed to community involvement and improving its facilities to support the club and the local area.

The Background

As part of a £900,000 redevelopment project, Redditch United aimed to upgrade its facilities at the Valley Stadium to provide a state-of-the-art synthetic pitch. The goal was to enhance the club’s competitiveness and offer a surface that could benefit the wider community by increasing playing hours and supporting various local teams and projects.

The Brief

The club required a 3G pitch to serve professional football and the community, and the existing natural grass surface needed to be replaced. The new pitch needed to be highly durable, able to sustain extended playing hours, and suitable for hosting a variety of local schools, clubs, and events. It also needed to be high-performing.

What We Did

SIS Pitches installed the latest synthetic turf technology at the Valley Stadium during the summer of 2016, completing the project in time for the 2016–2017 season. The partnership extended beyond the installation, with SIS Pitches committing to a three-year sponsorship deal to further support Redditch United and the local community.

The Outcome

The new synthetic pitch has transformed the Valley Stadium into one of the top football facilities in the region. Redditch United Chairman Chris Swan, emphasised its significance:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with SIS Pitches. They are undoubtedly the best in the business, and our new redevelopment will help take this club from strength to strength. Redditch United is 125 years old, and we are building this for the future, creating new jobs for the area and a facility that everyone can be proud of.”

Chris Swan, Chairman, Redditch Utd

SIS Pitches Managing Director Bryn Lee highlighted the community impact:

“This pitch isn’t just for the club; it’s also for the local community and the region. With it now able to sustain extra playing hours, it will be able to support more and more local teams and projects, which can only benefit the area as a whole.”
